New postage rates will take effect January 22, 2012. Forever stamps bought before this date will still be good and will not require additional postage. 
Any stamps reflecting a price will remain at that value and additional postage may be required based on the current rate at that time.
The new rate for a 1 ounce letter is 45¢. Postcards will be 32¢ each. Below are the new rates for First-Class Mail (retail):
